Blood and Betrayal
Information for the Tales of Crestoria cast and how they fit into the world of Despairing Vacation. This focuses solely on Crestoria original characters, and will not include other Tales characters that may appear in Crestoria.
Aegis Alver | 25 | he/him
The head of security at Negaiboshi, Aegis is a man who gives off a rather serious air, but it's easy to fluster him through teasing. There are rumors he's from another country, specifically Medagal, but any inquiries into the matter are firmly (but politely) shut down.
Aegis cares deeply for all of the students and his fellow staff, and would do anything to keep them safe. Some say there was someone in his past he was unable to save, and he hasn't forgiven himself for it.
He's married to Vicious, and is the legal guardian of Kanata and Misella, along with being something of an older brother figure to Clem. He believes strongly in his conviction to become the blade to protect the weak.
VICIOUS | 28 | he/him
A man shrouded in mystery for the most part. He's Aegis's husband and gets along well with Clem. He has a long history with Yuna, and is known to tease Aegis relentlessly.
Despite that fact, Misella also seems to despise him for some reason. She's known to have set him on fire on more than one occasion. Somehow, he managed to get a job at Negaiboshi, where he teaches "archery" ...with guns. At the very least, Aegis argued for him to use nerf guns than any form of lethal weapon.
He also seems to have some sort of allergy to shirts and proper clothing. Show us those top surgery scars king!!
Yuna Azetta | 27 | she/her
A journalist with an inexplicable French accent despite not being from France. A former Ultimate Journalist at Hope's Peak, she is known for digging out the truth of matters whether people like it or not.
She's also known to lie just to mess with you.
Yuna is old friends with Vicious, although their connection isn't entirely clear. It's said she had a hand in helping Aegis out of a spot of trouble a few years ago, but the details are similarly muddled.
She lives with her famous actress wife, Penelope, and is the wine aunt to Kanata and Misella whenever Aegis and Vicious need her to watch them.
Kanata Hjuger | 15 | he/him
One of Aegis's adopted children (although Aegis usually just refers to himself as being their legal guardians), Kanata is a young boy with a big heart and a troubled past. It's said he and Misella were taken in by Vicious and Aegis a few years ago after an incident that left the two children orphans.
Currently attending Negaiboshi, Kanata is in the politics field, where he's specializing in criminal justice. A little naive at times, Kanata is always eager to make friends with everyone around him.
Misella | 14 | she/her
The other adopted child of Aegis and Vicious, Misella is known for having a fierce loyalty to Kanata and...basically no one else. Her life before meeting Aegis and Vicious is not something she's fond of talking about, and too many questions will likely result in her setting the person asking on fire.
Misella is fond of flowers, fire, Kanata, and meat. Anything else is usually only a passing interest for her. She is attending Negaiboshi alongside Kanata, and is rarely seen without him despite being in a completely different field.
Misella is in the health field, with a specific focus on herbal medication. Her habit of starting fires has at the very least never touched the greenhouse.
Orwin Granberg | he/him
A tired 40 something year old with a 10 year old daughter. Not much is known about him, and his connection to Aegis and the others is even more of a mystery than Vicious or Yuna.
He claims to have helped Kanata out of a tough spot a while back, but the truth of that claim is...highly debated.
Malcolm Sloat | he/they
Malcolm Sloat is not the most well known scientist in the world, but his connections to Yuna are unfortunately very personal. Malcolm is a scientist obsessed with finding the perfect way to transfer souls between bodies, and as an extension of that--creating the perfect human form. While his experiments have a body count higher than one would ideally wish for, it seems his experiments have a strong focus on the leftover research of another organization.
The name of that organization is a mystery, but the name of the most infamous assassin to come out of it isn't: Uno the Heartless. It's rumored the organization fell apart after Despair (for the most part) fizzled out.
He's a hot unethical scientist what isn't there to love about this man.
Makina | she/they
With the face of a little girl, Makina is about the least threatening thing anyone could ever imagine. Even her cute little chain-chomp like pet that she carries around on a chain lends its charm to her perfectly innocent child-like image.
Of course, all this is thrown out the window when you learn what she really is. Makina is a man-made weapon, hellbent on killing Aegis and possibly the others. What reason does she have for this? Who created her? How effective is she at her job?
Well, the answers to the first two questions are a mystery. As for the last one. ...She is, to be quite honest, not much more threatening than a roomba with a knife duct-taped to it. Perhaps whoever created her accidentally made her too cute.
